The use artificial intelligence (Ai) systems and technology by the Australian Police Journal (APJ) Limited is in keeping with applicable legislation and the objectives of the company.

Content generation

Authors and generators of content who knowingly use Ai are required to declare this to the APJ Editorial Team at the time of submitting their content for consideration of publication.

Where Ai is used to generate content (text or imagery), or used to substantially alter existing content, it will be declared at publication in the text of the relevant article or in the caption to an image.

A declaration will not be made in situations where the use of Ai by editorial staff was limited to assisting in the editing of an article. Examples include but are not limited to Ai being used to identify routine spelling, grammar or syntax errors, paragraphs requiring revision by the author, and the potential need to refer an article to a lawyer for legal advice. 

Business practices

Ai systems may from time to time be used by APJ staff in administering company business. In keeping with the APJ’s existing business practices, privacy and security will be at the forefront of the design and use of any Ai systems, especially if Ai is used in any way to manage the personal information of subscribers, contributors and/or staff.
